The X-Terra-70 Does it Again:clapping:

For the past two months I have been hunting a site that my research shows was the winter camp site for the 45th Virginia Infantry. The site encompasses about 170 acers and until today I have only recovered a button which had deteriorated to the point that it could not be identified.

I was hunting along a flat near some high ground and recovered a musket ball or grape shot at about 7".

My X-Terra-70 with 10.5 DD 7.5KHz coil gave me a very sharp signal 42 at 10". I recovered a buckle. It appears to be made of brass but not sure. It measures 2 3/4" by 1 5/8". There is no marking on the front or back. Sure could use some help in identifying the buckle, if that is what it is.

About five feet from the buckle location my X-Terra again gave me a sharp signal 36 at 9+". I recovered a 1848 large copper penny in excellent condition. (my first large cent and oldest coin recovered).

The X-Terra-70 is "onehellofamachine" Thanks for looking TomB:detecting:

I love to find those in camp sites. That buckle is 100% civil war also. You are right about the 70 its a sweet running machine thats for sure.I'm just getting used to mine but I have a-lot of confidence in its abilities.I just bought one of those 10.5 medium DD coils can't wait to try it out in some campsites.

If you don't already have the 6 inch DD high frequency coil give one a try its hard to beat in dense iron!!

Tom, Good finds, would you believe I have looked for a large cent for 35 years. I have found some old coins but no large cent YET...
Excellent, keep at that spot. With 170 acres to hit it may take some time, just stay with it!!

possiblities ahead of you. Just keep track of where you've been and make yourself a map of where you make your finds. By the time you get done hunting that site, you'll be old and forgetful (like me) and be glad you had recorded the action! HH Randy

Congrats on the great finds! You did very well. I know youe were excited I would have beeen, Beale.
