Hello room, Just wanted some insight on the mine lab x-Terra 505. I want to know about its ground balancing and do you think it will work along a creek or river for gold nuggets? Iv seen one site that list it as a good choice for prospecting. My question is do you think it has the same, less, or more ground control than the garret gold scorpion? Or can you compare it the any other cheap gold detectors on the market today? I would like the 705 but I go to college, and don't really have the funds. Also what about the first detector for a person like me... Thanks Jess

Have you checked out the FAQFAQ yet? If not do so. You can also print off Randy's book on the series. Good luck to you, Beale.

You might think about a used 70 or 705 . I picked up a used 70 on the classifieds for 375 and it is a good one.

I have read many posts on using the Xterras for gold prospecting, and they do a pretty good job. But remember you cant compare it to a detector that specializes in gold prospecting because that machine is fine tuned for that specific purpose.
