The WOT is a fantastic coil but.... my god! Did anyone of you ever give it another colour??

I guess it is what it is

I read an article about using it on the Explorer XS for deep coin hunting in parks, and I believe the same settings and concept could be transferred to the Sov. I just got mine last week, so I have a long road ahead of me before I take it out with the WOT (which came with mine) for deep silver coin hunting....so I can't wait to get some time on it and learn how the Sov works, then do some WOT deep silver seeking at Golden Gate Park

W.O.T. is short for Wonderful Orange Thing

Sure seems to be a decent coil when properly used in the right setting, My style and hunting conditions have never warented its use, but plenty of folks love it.......

It is a great coil and sensitive on small coins as well. I ordered a silvercolor Plugger shaft. I guess it will look better then.

I'd like to use the WOT coil for deep silver hunting like this person has outlined on his Explorer XS WOT article.

He was extremely successful, I'm sure the same concepts would transfer over to the Sovereign:

WOT Deep Silver Hunting

Sorry for re-hashing an old thread (studying), but I just had to reply.

The colour of just about ALL the old coiltek coils is that orange. They started out and mainly make coils for the SD and GP series of detectors for gold prospecting, that's their thing, treasure hunting is a distant second. Most goldfields in Australia, especially in W.A, the soil is that orange-slightly red coloul. A lot of it is in fact exactly the same colour. When you put it on the ground, it blends in.

That colour used to be their trade mark, I guess they wanted one:confused:. When the SD series of detectors came out, it sparked another gold rush, and people became so competitive, that they had to hide themselves (still do). They wore camouflage and always try to hide themselves from people trying to follow them. That is why you get a lot of gold prospecting gear in camouflage patterns. I suppose they tried to make this coil colour blend into the ground for camouflage purposes (I think) and I tell you what, they did a really good job of that. Often I have stepped on or almost stepped on my coil out in the gold fields because of not noticing it.

Sadly i retired mine since i got the new SEF 15x12, one thing though, its easy to find if i decide to put it on again
