The weather was nice.......

and the humidity was tolerable. so, after putting in my long day at the coal mines i was compelled to do a little hunting before it got dark. i wasn't expecting to find much in the narrow window of daylight i had left but to my surprise i uncover a 1941 wheat as well as an old porcelain/milk glass lid with whats left of the metal portion of it. after doing a little research i found out that this style dates back to the 1860's but unfortunately its difficult to date these exactly.

thanks for looking and

Those old jar lids always make me think that there just might be some real good things to be found. I have found quite a number of those and unfortunately the Zinc is always corroded away till all you get is the glass. I hate to admit it but I am old enough to remember those lids being used to can our food when I was a youngster.
