by most standards elsewhere so I bundled up and reworked a small lot I'd visited many times before. With my resent purchase of a new detector I was chomping at the bit to get some time using it. Sure beats just thinking about getting out. Pulled a couple of 50's wheat's and a real nice "what you may call it". :biggrin:The multi legged curtain hanger really had my hopes up as it came in as a perfect double audio hit in the nickel numbers, just like a mans gold band on edge. Maybe next time.

The thing-a-ma-gig almost looks like some sort of crown. Maybe a broke off piece? I'm beginning to forget what the tones sound like. Soon as I win the lottery I'm getting a slide-in camper for the pickup and heading south

I like that phrase, thing-a-ma-jig. I agree it does appear to have been broken off of something else. It feels heavy for it's size, similar to lead. At first it reminded me of the Army Corp of Engineers emblem, but it's not that, most likely it's just a piece of a childs toy.

Thanks for your comments and stay warm out there.:hot:

I found a large St. Christopher medallion a while back that looked somewhat like that thing-a-ma-jig material. I did some research on it and found out they are pewter and cost about $90 when you buy them new. I was surprised. I really need to get some kind of medal test kit. I am told not all valuables are labeled.----------It is so cold here I saw a lawyer this morning who had his hands in his own pockets  My dad had an old joke on the farm when I was a kid. He said he forgot to put the shovel away last night and left it leaning against the barn door by the thermometer. When he went out this morning the mercury was half way down the shovel handle  Now that's damned cold:-----------HH

 Thats thingamajig the the Leprechaun Kings crown! You missed a pot of gold by a foot or two!....Hey IB, who would pay 90 bucks for a pewter medallion? I guess someone who dont know any better, or has more dollars than sense!
Mud

You know Mud, I think I had a senior moment there, cause now that I rethink it a little, the St. Christopher was sterling silver and real heavy and bigger than a silver dollar. The pewter item I have is a little wizard that is actually pointed like a dagger about 13/4" tall. Probably a character out of some movie or something. I think he's also holding some wand or cane with a red gem(not real) on the top. Thanks for jogging my memory. Wow just looked at the temp on my PC. It's all the way up to -13, a real heat wave.------------Cheers

Mud

Common Mud! I didn't just fall off the turnip wagon. Anyone can see it's his long lost "lower front dental bridge." :lmfao:
