The Vaquero gets it's first real test.

Went out yesterday with a buddy of mine to one of my favorite old parks for a day of detecting. I brought my high end unit and the Vaquero with the 5 3/4 coil. At the end of the day we headed back to the truck to get our jackets and batteries. I saw the V sitting there and I could tell it wanted it's chance. So grabbed it and headed back into the park. I ground balanced it and took it to an area that I have pulled several seateds, Babers, V's ,buffs and other good coins. The area is very small and loaded with small bits of iron. Me and my buddy have pounded it about a dozen different times and the pickens are getting very slim. Most of the signals will only repeat 2 ways so you are wasting your time checking them from another angle. Your lucky to get them to repeat 2 ways most the time! I started working it real slow with my disc set just below 5c and dug a few very small conductors then I got a more solid hit and out pops a nice green wheatie. My next signal was a war 5c with some trash in the hole with it. I wish I could continue with more finds but that was it. The 2 coins were about 3 or 4 inches deep and produced repeatable sounds. The V showed me today that it's capable of finding coins in tough conditons.
