The vaquero and tiny targets.

I was searching a wooded area yesterday and found a wheat penny 4 to six inches down. I swept the hole before leaving and did not get a signal. I swept it in all metal and got a very good mellow signal. So I dug deeper , could not find it with a pinpointer so dug deeper. Swept my drop cloth with the Vaq and got the beep. Still had a hard time finding it with the propointer. Kept separating dirt , picking dirt up...finally found it. A piece of number six buckshot !

the Vaqueroes all metal is very good , I seen carter testing it on a small earing stud and it picked it up very nicly, I would love to try the Vaq,s all metal looks Impresive , and in the test he was using the 8x9 if you put the small DD on Gold nuggets would be no problem. Pluss i like the sound it makes,

It would be nice if you could switch the vaq to All Metal without having to adjust the Threshhold.

All the Tesoros I've used have been quite sensitive to very small targets. Once dug the head of a horshoe nail at 7" still giving a strong signal.
BB

is the ground where u found that very mineralized? ive got a vaq on its way to me so that is good to hear

Pax,the soil here , North Missouri, is not very mineralized , I dont think.Black dirt and red clay.

Barber bill, I dug a rusty horseshoe nail ,too. The whole nail though.

For what it's worth, the horse shoe nail head I mentioned was found in moderately mineralized soil with a Silver Sabre

Hi BB, and you are so right about Tesoro's sensitivity! Every Tesoro I have used (several) was extremely sensitive to some very tiny and deep targets. HH, Charlie

Yep searching a wooded area yesterday and dug a 1903 indian cent and also dug some some small lead shot I believe to be from bird hunters it is very sensitive supertuned I just have to slow my swing speed down a tad

Hey Hatpin I can with mine.I added a high resolution ground balance knob and an all metal/pinpoint switch locks foward for all metal mode/momentary pull for pinpoint.

Jarid,
What's the difference over the push button except being able to switch into all metal? You still would have to adjust your threshold when you switch.

Yep, I find them quite a bit with my V when prospecting. Not sure what # shot it is, but some I find weigh just under 1 GRAIN! I believe all metal mode is the Vaquero's strong point. It hits waaayyy deep in all metal also. If conditions allowed it, I would use all metal much more often.

I said buckshot, I should have said bird shot. It was the size a person would use for Squirrells and Rabbits about the size of a BB.
.

You dont have to adjust the Threshold to switch between All Metal and Discriminate on the Vaq. Did you mean having to adjust the Discrimination to switch into All Metal? You can also just push the Pin Point button to go into All Metal briefly.

If you have the threshold set at two or three oclock , then switch to all metal , its going to be blasting.

If you supertune in disc, the threshold needs to be turned down before hitting pinpoint or all metal. It is a pain to fiddle with the knobs.
