Hi Strike It Rich,I think I know you from another forum. If so you have a great sense of
humor and will fit right in. Welcome .

I could say: Set up & working properly, there is no other VLF detectors on the market that could out perform it. That may start a war, so I won't say it. :)

It's a very much underrated, unknown detector. It performance is tops but threw poor management, and marketing, it just didn't cut it. They stopped making the GoldTrax unit in the late 90's, but when you get it, and have a chance to test it out, you will be pleasantly surprised. If there is a draw back is it's weight, although it not that heavy. It is made into a cast aluminum case. You can belt mount it though.

Drop me a email, and I'll send you a link to a Baron web site. I can't post it here, just not proper. If anyone is looking for this info, please drop me a email.

Thanks for your reply in the past I have purchased cheaper made models of detectors. When I saw the treasure baron for sale on a highly popular site I did quite a lot of research.

I myself had never heard of this model but loved the concept of the modular chip great idea it seems there is hardly a bad word for these detectors.

I intend to learn how to use this machine then give it the test of its life in a highly iron/junk infested site beach site. If it can handle this I will be estatic.

I understand you can still purchase the chips so after a while will get more chips.

Also as a novice I will write of my experiences of this machine good or bad so wish me luck in finding the goodies.

Best wishes S.I.R

replacement chips for the Gold Trax. There is no up-grade chip available for the Gold Trax.

The Coin Trax module is the only one that have available for it a up-grade chip. The new microprocessor chip makes the Coin Trax a completely new detector.

thanks for clarifying that I did see that there was a 2005 model so if I were happy with the gold trax model I could buy another model.

There is a new model Baron with the Coin Trax. It can not be used with the modules that would fit your Gold Trax unit, although you could purchase a Coin Trax module with the up-graded chip to fit your older unit.
