The number one an unmodified clean XS Sovereign.2 Any CZ model 3.White's XLT 4.Coinstrike.5 Tesoro Tiger Shark

Good machines and in no particular order

Fisher 1236X2 and ID Edge, Cibola, Coinstrike, any CZ, Sovereign, ML Advantage, Whites (6000) XL Pro if you can find one, HH Wader.

Oops, thats 9 not 5.

Just off the top of my head, probably lots more..

Tom

I have pulled a lot of silver coins out of iron with this detector.A very compact and well made probably the best back pack unit money can buy.The Tesoro box is smaller but they don't hip mount and break down to carry like the Fisher.

Any Troy is a good keeper. XL pro , compass gold scanner, coin scanner, explore 11. Dan

If you want performance and professional quality features at an affordable price..You can get a Bounty Hunter Pioneer 505 for under $300.00 brand new .For the money it will hold its own against any comparably priced unit.Whites,Garretts,Tesoro's.

ok, ok, ive finally got my list together: 1. the tigershark by tesoro. good on land and water. 2. quick draw 2 / pioneer 202 by bounty hunter - say what ya want, its a beast... for 200 bucks! 3. explorer se by minelab - the thunda from down unda is a relic snoopin dawg from h**l... 4. nautilus 2b, an older model, better remove your tooth fillings before using...you will pick them up! 5. mxt by whites - one of the detectors all others are judged by. ***** i believe that any good detectorist who owned all five of these machines would soon quit their job and detect for a living.[well, maybe not, but its an attractive thought] looking at the superb capabilities of these machines, it quickly becomes apparent that they pretty much cover the whole spectrum of anything that you would ever want to find. just my 2 cents worth, hh,

Never owned or used a Troy always been on my list, but can never find on at a good price. The Bounty Hunter I've heard good things about is the Time Ranger, again if I ever see a good deal on one I may pick one up used.

Well here's my opinion for whatever it's worth in no particular order. Tesoro Eldorado, Tesoro Silver Sabre umax, White's MXT, White's Prizm IV, Tesoro Compadre.
HH

I've always heard that the Troy's were just modified Tesoros. I just couldn't see myself putting out that kind of money for a detector that wouldn't offer more depth that I would get with a Tesoro. I relic hunt, so more features are not what I need. What I need is something will tell me the difference between ferrous and nonferrous and see targets at 12"+ . In reasonable ground my Eldorado will get me this kind of depth in all metal (I have a Tejon on the way that I'm going to be putting to the test). I also have an MXT that will give me this kind of depth with the stock coil in moderate to good ground and will give me 8"-9" in bad ground. The MXT is also a little more versatile. The only complaint I have with the MXT is the weight. I suspect if they could shave a 1/2 lb or so off the weight I would use mine alot more. Lately, I use the MXT on new site (to me) to try and find hotspot areas. Once I find the hotspot area I start hunting with my Tesoro (to take the weight off and because its a better machine in all metal). So far, I haven't been able to find the perfect relic machine in one machine.

The only Troy made by Tesoro was the X2 the X3 and X5 were made by Fisher. As far as features go I hunt on the west coast so black sand is an issue for me , having a machine that runs at 19.3 kHz gets all the small stuff nothing but a gold magnet. The Troy more than pays for itself in rewards. This year I've picked off 2 14K golds and an 18K ring as well as 150.00 in clad and a number of silver pieces probably to date this year 20g 14K 2.5g 18K 25g silver. Now no one here said anything about specific hunting just good all around machines I have many many machines for different uses water and land.

I would like to see the expression on my wife's face if I had that many units .You make us proud.

was done with a chest mounted 1236X2 and it worked great here in my fresh water lakes. I made a lot of good gold finds with it.
