Hi my name is Zdigger21, I am new to this forum but not new to detecting. I have been detecting for the past 6 years, here pretty recently I switched from using my trusty garret ace 250 and switched to using one of the most amazing machines that I have ever picked up. for the past 6 years I have tried almost every brand of detector available except for minelab, I have mainly used garret detectors since starting this hobby, but I have also tried whites (MXT), Tesoro (silver Umax), Garret (ATpro), (Ace 250), and (150). after doing some research on a new machine to upgrade to I took a couple of month to think this out and after reading forum after forum I decided on the minelab 705, thanks to a lot of people on this forum giving them such high praise. I decided before ever posting on this forum I would give this new detector a month and get to know it before making a statement about the capability of this machine. After today I decided that it was time, for the past couple of weeks hunting some place that I have hit hard before with other machines and some new ground I was unfamiliar with I have my final impression with this machine. going from hunting with the Ace 250 to the 705 was amazing I took my time and read Horton's book and applied what I had read and learned, I can say this my amount of good finds have gone up dramatically with in the past month I have found 5 wheat pennies, 1 silver dime, 1 1949 nickel and my oldest dated relic so far a 1847 drawer pull with a silver handle. I still have a lot to learn with this machine and understand that this will take a while but after hunting the trash filled home site today and finding my oldest coin to date (1920) wheat penny next to an iron plate I look forward to this journey and fill I may never learn all this machine has to offer to teach me. Also I want to say thanks to all the people that influenced my decision unknowingly. For those who know the 705 no what it is capable of pulling out of the ground.
