The stock Excal Koss Headphones............

Were a pain in the butt for me when it came to holding their adjusted fit on my head..
I know they are not great for hearing either, but this is just to address the short and stiff cable that seemed to always pull the HPs out of their adjusted fit!!
I drilled a one eighth hole through the Koss emblem, both sides, and into the band (* not into the HP housing) and then screwed a quarter inch SS #8 into them. It does make these HPs that I came to loathe the first time out....a little more tolerable!! If you do this, get the best fit with your hat and shades on before you drill
I plan on doing the PP mode and HP upgrade this winter, but this works for now.
GL ALL

also, remove from head before drilling!!!:surprised:

upgrade to some skullies or greyghosts as soon as you can!

chuck.

I replaced the pads with gel pads (per OldBeechnut) and I like them way better than I did. Course the Excal is now collecting dust, but that's another story...

Just before I bought this Xcal 1000 at the beginning of the year, the previous owner had sent it to ML to have the HPs replaced, I don't think he knew of any other option so he got the Koss. He also had the battery cable and pod replaced, O-rings and seals.
I did read some time back about replacing with gel pads. Which ones did you get??

And some fine detail to what is needed....

Joe - I do prefer the CTX.......BUT I don't go under with it. I'm more of a wet sand/shallow water hunter with either unit.

I replaced the pads on mine with the gel pads that Joe recommends. Made a world of difference in comfort level and helped some with the noise dampening.
