Replaced the XS with a Sovereign GT.The XS had a bad coil and was worried about parts.Got a XS2a from Rick sold both the XS2a and XS and bought a Sovereign GT.After using the GT in the field it is a much better Sovereign. My last time out instead of having the sensitivity turned high used the auto position. Was very surprised how much better this worked found a lot of targets that I missed while running the sensitivity high. One target a 1918 Canadian dime about 8 inches down and three wheat pennies at about the same depth 1914,1917,1918.Anyway Rick is right the GT is a better Sovereign. Thanks

Hey Ron, just curious what coil you're using on your GT? I've been using auto sens more and more lately unless I'm in a plowed field. then I turn it up to about 11:00-12:00 and it seems to work a little better.

hsjrev,I'm using the Tornado 1000 Slim Line. The performance is outstanding in auto in my ground conditions. There are a lot of good hunting areas I have to recheck,I guess I'm still learning.

Trey,I have sold a few metal detectors on Ebay.Sell the unit with a base coil and sell the other items separately. You may even have cash left over after you buy the other detector. By the way I don't miss the straight shaft I had on the XS even with the meter and probe the balance is great.

Last couple of short hunts I have been finding wheat's in the early teens but little silver.Today and yesterday 10 wheat's and today a 1945 Mercury Head. The oldest coins today a 1910,1916 penny. The X2 yesterdays best a 1917,1930 the Troy would be a awesome detector with a Headhunter probe setup.I'm still running a 20 to 1 ratio for silver, due for more older silver the old pennies are indicating they are there somewhere.

Eight coins in the one hour search today the first signal 180 on the ID meter was a 1942 Dime about 6 to 7 inches down.Out of the four pennies three were wheat's the oldest 1930.The 1977 nickle I found was about four inches.I used the Tornado 1000 coil.
