The Sovereign and newer coils

With the Advantage I know that coils are backwards compatible but not forwards. Is it the same thing with the Sovereigns? Like if I acquired an older "The Sovereign", could I use one of the newer Tornado Slimline coils on it?
 
Any Sov or Xcal coil will work on any Sov or Xcal, but keep the Coinsearch coils out of the water. They are not waterproof.
