Nice job man!! I swing an Elite and love it more and more everyday. I jsut have to master the art of all metal hunting on turf. Congrats!

nice catch... I an elite user for awhile now and I love it. try it on the beach or wet sand you will be digging deep. I am thinking of upgrading to the sov.GT. keep up the good work...

The Button,
Great finds Harvey,
Still should be seated out in that ghost town, If possible go back.
The WATERBURY BUTTON CO. button you found as made between the years 1849-1965 by this company. Hard to say when yours was made but judging by the finds and when the ghost town first started it can be anywhere from 1860's to early1870's. The 1867 shield nickel appears to be a fresh drop or a late 1860's drop so I would guess the button to be the same "1860's early 1870's."
Go back and get the seated, Congrats, Paul (Ca)

Found your button showing one of the makers as "Waterbury Button Co.," It's a General Service button;,2-piece.
Can't narrow down a year but safe to say anywhere from lower 1850's to early 1860's, The person losing the button may have been in the service several years before still wearing the same uniform at the ghost town you found the button.
Congrats, Paul (Ca)

Way to go Harvey. Those are fantastic, especially that 5 cent coin.

Date can be somewhat defined with help from McQuinn/Bazelon's Backmark book. Accoutrements didn't change until 1872-74 (US oval belt plate changed to the Hagner "rectangle" plate), so any plates and some bullets if recovered will help narrow down the time frame. Good hunting, David @ Dixie
