The same reading, different tone?

If you are asking if the machine can be set up like that, then I think the answer is no. However you can set it up where you have the same tone for different TID's. If you are asking if it happens, then the answer is yes. I think I remember reading a post by Digger that explains why it happens In the ferrous coin separation mode. If i am remembering correctly, the tone and the TID are independent of each other. but if you keep wiggling the coil over the target, the TID will eventually match the tone...At least it does on my machine.

Yesterday I got a 12-22 reading twice once with a medium tone and once with high tone, first targit appeared to be a pulltab second a coin.

What target separation were you using? I'm guessing Ferrous/Coin. The first 12/22 sounds correct, the second could have been trash, trash next to the target, or just not waiting for the TID to catch up to the tone after the coil was passed over trash. At any rate, it is perfectly "normal".

If you want too set up the CTX too have the same tone in a bin set it up in Combine if that's what your asking???

The second target (with the high tone) were a, what we call "dubbeltje" (we used this coin before the euro), nickel coin with 10mm diameter.

My guess is that you have your bins set with one of the "break points" on one side (or the other) of 22. And I'd also guess that one of the bins has a higher tone than the other. So if your target was not sure if it were a solid 22, on the high side of 21 or the low side of 23, it would provide the tone established for 22. If it happened to read a bit more (or less) conductive on a subsequent sweep, it would provide the tone associated with the adjacent bin. e.g. if it were the low side of 23 and read a bit more conductive on a subsequent sweep, it would now provide the tone associated with 23 instead of dropping down to the tone associated with CO number 22. Theoretically, the numbers associated with a target are also associated with a specific bin. But a target's value may vary, depending on sweep speed and any adjacent targets. Something that I've tried to explain to folks is to make sure the coil clears the target before accepting the TID number. Due to different processing mechanisms, TID numbers do not display as "quickly" as tones are heard. JMHO HH Randy

Yeah, sounds like a " break point" type deal where your detector is having trouble making up its mind?
