The right Coil Size

DiggerDug

New member
I have a Cibola with the stock 9x8 and a Compadre with the 5 3/4 coil. Great most of the time but sometimes it seems the 9x8 is too big and the 5 3/4 is to small for some places.
Would the 8 inch (brown) coil be a good medium for the Cibola. I had a Cutlass for years and never seemed to have this issue. Thanks for any advise.

I have the same as you one of each. Honestly I think your good with what you have ?

Thanks for the reassurance. I've used the Cibola mostly for Relic and Beach hunting. Just starting to use it around old home places. Just need to learn to use the 9x8 in tighter areas.

Over the years the 8" coil has proven to be a great all around coil... Not to big, not to small... most new size coils was customer driven products... I find the 8" coil works well most places even in trash and with a very decent depth.. Do I use different size coils yep..but in specialtiy areas where I Might need a little less in trash, or bigger for fields etc..

I'm a fan of stock coils, but the tesoro widescan 10x5 could be useful for your situation, never used it thought so I can't recommend it, but the similar sized coil model for the MXT works wonders in some places

My opinion, pick up a 5.75 inch concentric for the Cibola. And maybe consider looking at one of the 3.6 x 18 inch clean sweeps for the Cibola too if you hunt some big tot lots or hunt sports fields. Use the coil that is best for the hunt you are on. Many times working a school yard, I will use one coils for some areas then switch coils for a another area of the school yard.
Cheers,
tvr

Don't know if it's available for the Cibola etc., but the 7" concentric is a great coil in the

DD,
I have been using the Silver uMax with 9 x 8 coil for years to relic hunt. It has been great for me. Using it around closely growing saplings and in field stubble can be a bit trying at times though I must admit. I wouldn't swith though.
