the results of a couple of short hunts...

GRAY GHOST

New member
hi all, here are the results of the last couple of short hunts that i've managed to squeeze out here lately. on top row is an old thimble, a percussion cap, a shot .44 cal. ball, and a .52 cal. ringtail sharps bullet. just below is a '61 mem cent, and a rough 1864 indian that electrolysis really didn't help. but hey, it's still a '64 indian! below those is an old ladie's lipstick, made by "irresistible distr. ny. pink orchid." next is a 1900 indian, softbrushed, a large brass frame buckle that's bent, no tongue, very old, and an aluminum lid to something. on the next row, it looks like a small watch buckle, a piece of lead melt, a lead whatzit that's hollow and tapered, some sort of threaded cap, a crudely made bronze ring that looks to have been cut from a piece of pipe, it's angled and the factory chamfer shows on the inside. and of course, let's not forget the venerable 12th georgia shotgun shell end, they sure do sound like buttons, so you gotta dig 'em! next row is a 1907 indian, it turned out well with electrolysis, a piece of shell frag, a modern looking brass buckle, and an eyeballed colombia piece. i sure was glad to find the 3 indians, they ended a dry spell on coins. still can't believe how good the 1907 indian turned out. i also found a lot of iron pieces, and more cannonball frags, and some whatzits. it's always fun and rewarding to get out with the cibola and the pioneer 202. i hope you enjoy the pic, i plan to get out again tommorow. thanks, and hh,

Keep the pictures coming.

I dug my first one 3 months after I starting detecting and then another one one month later and now I have over 13 buckles and plates.Sometimes a long stretch before one pops up and all but five of mine came from sites that were already "hunted out"
I know its frustrating but worth the wait. Ain't nothin like poping one out of the ground for the first time. Don't forget to do a little victory dance when you do find your first one (and you will find one).
HH
Jay
