This pinpointer will do things that ain't been invented yet...there ain't no pinpointer no where even remotely like the Pro-Pointer...it's the one everybody has been waiting for and will blow the competition away.

How many hits do you hope to get? I'll bet Garrett will be watching, and ready to pop the Champagne corks and pass-out the Cubans!

I still consider myself a newbie, but my pinpointer will be replaced immediatly if I ever lose it. I consider that it has paid for itself and urge ALL newbies to get one!

I have seen this video and was wandering how even with 3 pin pointers he had to dig a whole big enough for an elephant to hide in,, my understanding of a pin pointer is just that,,,pin point,,,,, not keep digging a massive hole until you find something,, i pride myself on my target retrieval the smaller the hole the better even if the target is 8" deep

I hope he never visits any of my local parks. Metal detecting will be banned for sure digging those huge holes......;o(

For those who haven't noticed, I basically used some of Uncle Willy's exact words that he used in his AT Pro post. I was kind of being funny, but I felt the wording is certainly appropriate for the Pro-Pointer. It has improved my detecting results and enjoyment more than any other detector or detecting equipment I've used. And I truly feel that it is significantly more effective than any other pinpointer I've used.

But despite the duplicate wording, I kind of doubt this thread will get over 5,000 hits in less than three weeks! :crylol:

I'll give the guy in the above video props for an exciting and great find:thumbup:, but two thumbs down for the crater:thumbdown::thumbdown:.

Even on a deep target in an area where nobody cares, that's overkill and he should work on his pinpointing skills. Especially if he's going to post a video for the whole world to see.

I'm very familiar with the Pistol Probe. I've had one for the better part of two years and I actually use it along with the Pro-Pointer. On average, once or twice a hunt I'll call on the Pistol Probe's extra depth when I can't locate the target quickly with the Pro-Pointer.

The Pistol Probe absolutely has more depth, but massive depth is not important in most pinpointing situations. And the Pistol Probe simply doesn't work as well for most pinpointing as the Pro-Pointer.

The Pro-Pointer is compact, convenient and durable. And most importantly the signal is graduated, so it gets more solid as you get closer to the target.

The Pistol Probe is bulky, awkward and not particularly sturdy. It looks like a gun from a distance (which admittedly can be a plus in some areas) and it is a lot more temperamental in use and with the control knobs and the fragile little door that folds back to access them.

A couple months ago my Pistol Probe cracked right where the barrel comes into the body. I called Detector Pro and they said there was nothing they could do except maybe try to glue it. Fortunately the small wires were unbroken, so I glued it, surrounded it with Goop automotive sealant and after it dried surrounded it with gaffers tape. It's held so far, but I know it's only a matter of time even though I'm babying it. When it does go, I'll miss it but I don't know that I can justify $170 for a new one.

I'm kind of thinking the guy in the video posted above has an agenda in pushing the Pistol Probe. It's very rare that someone underestimates depth with any detecting equipment and this guy definitely did when he dismissively said "about an inch" for the Pro-Pointer. I don't exaggerate depth and I can tell you that the Pro-Pointer gets about two inches on a coin. Unless you detune it, you won't get less than 1 1/2" on a coin.

I'm not knocking the Pistol Probe. It compliments my Pro-Pointer nicely. But in an either-or situation, I would always go with the :garrett:Pro-Pointer. And I'm pretty sure that most dirt fishers who have used both would say the same thing.

What I am about to say I mean in the most politest way possible, and am only saying it so you can continue to detect without the authorities or land owners getting irate.

You can not be digging holes like that in public or any place for that matter. That huge plug will turn into an eye sore or a sprained ankle for some kid, and it is a sure way for no detecting signs to be posted.

Sorry buddy but I do not want to see you or any of us loose detecting over ugly holes and damaged lawn from huge dried up plugs.
try a drop cloth. and try to make plugs no bigger than your fist. A pinpointer by definition allows deep recoveries from small plugs.

Take care

I got a Detector Pro pointer as part of a package when I bought my detector ..... Even though the Garret was a less expenisive pointer , I asked the vendor to switch it out for me which he did ......I am COMPLETELY satisified wth my Garrett Pro Pointer !!..... The build quality of the Garrett is FAR SUPERIOR to the D. P. , and works with no fuss , no muss ...Jim

I wouldn't even try to get along without my propointer. It's been in the rain, covered with mud and dropped (several times) on floors, driveways, streets, etc. It takes a lickin' and keeps on tick....errrr...beepin'. I consider it an absolutely necessary accessory. If it sounds like I'm a big fan, well you'd be right. I've tried the trick of putting a piece of metal against the barrell to get additional depth and it works great. You can get an extra inch or two with that little trick. I carry a rusty nail in my collection pouch for such occasions.

I cant stay away from this one. I use the X-1 switched from the pro pointer and haven't looked back. I dig holes like that in peoples front yards all the time because I use the ETrac, and when I am done digging the super deep plug it all goes back and the home owners still say they couldn't even tell I was there. sometimes you gotta dig a big deep plug to get to that coin that is a foot down, it actually keeps more of the root base in tact. you AT users will see soon enough. HH
