The Relic is HOT!

Actually, the Relic and I were both hot yesterday!
This a a pic that my buddy shot of me while he was taking a necessary break in the shade. Record heat in Central AZ.!
Not much to show for my efforts. My buddy wound up with about the same. He was using his CTX. The Relic continues to impress. This place was/is tough due to all of the iron. The Relic and I had a pretty good week at different sites. I will try and do a weeks end round up later today. Stay cool!

.58 cal. three ringer, modern penny, flat copper disc, buckles. A bunch of other non-ferrous junk too. These were the best finds.

Dean,
We used to go out in any weather conditions. To old now. Not to mention the snakes and ticks and skeeters! Nice finds

Thanks George!
Too darn hot for the snakes to be out, no ticks here, and no skeeters...yet. When the summer monsoons come so will the skeeters. At least you don't have to shovel the heat!

Dean, you're doing what I used to do ... endure summer's heat. many a time I have spend day-long searches in some of my favorite Utah ghost towns that lack any shady vegetation I see in your photo. The best you could find was knee-high sagebrush and it was well spaced. Temperatures were in the 102° to 106° range and, other than a 20-30 minute lunch break, I could hunt from sun-up to sun-set. Sure haven't been able to do that since '91 when I collapsed. That was a combination of the heat and, as we determined later when I got to my doctor, crashing blood sugars. That's when I first discovered my diabetes onset.

As Tex mentioned, age and health can take their toll on us and that kind of hunting is out for some of us. :( Here in Vale, in eastern Oregon, we hit 101° yesterday. It started out kind of comfortable and cool, before the sun rose much, and I had grandkid duty (4th day :surrender:) and took them fishing. Nice breeze and shade. No AC at my place and I am going to go shopping for that today .... early!

Relaxed out on my deck late yesterday putting stickers on some Relic, CoRe and Racer 2 coils, now this morning I have a half dozen mosquito bites. I have encountered rattlers in similar summer heat through the years so I never try to guess that they aren't around, especially after my dog was bitten by one back on April 28th. Yes, my Relic's and CoRe and Racer models can handle the heat, but this old phart had to throw in the towel on that enjoyment long ago. Glad to know some folks can still handle it, but for me, I'm trying to figure out where to take a vacation from the unending summer sun and heat.

You are a survivor, Monte....four days with the grandkids would do me in!
Unusually hot here this week. Supposed to get back to normal soon. Hope you get out and do some hunting soon!
