I changed my avatar to a pic of the way I look now. The other one was taken #*^*# years ago. Do I look 84 years old?

Well I'm not. I'm really 66. I'm retired and it's finally time to have some fun, if my aches and pains (and my wife) will let me.

Hey Walt
You don't look a day over 65.LOL.Congratulations on the retirement,Now go out there & have as much as you can and make sure you post you're finds for us.

Thanks Jasper. You guys make me feel better than I should. One question. What do you do in the winter when you can't detect?

Hey Walt
I've only been MD for about 3 months now.I live in Ga so it's not going to be too much of a problem.I'm sure I'll have some days when it's to cold and when those days come, I'll do alot of reading and dreaming of that next big find I make.I'm sure there are some folks on here with some good ideas

I'm in southwestern Ohio, east of Cincinnati. Just a small amount, but it's still cold to me. 33 degrees.

Being 63 myself, I understand the reluctance to metal detect when it gets that cold. I usually browse the forums and see what others have been finding. That keeps the flame lit until I get a chance to detect again. Welcome to the "old timers" club.:beers:

RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH!!! Winter Time is a great time to research new locations and to get permissions to hunt private property...get it all lined up for that Spring thaw...
There are 3 books written by the same gal about our local history here in Solvay, NY (Solvay Stories I, II, and III), and also State Fair Stories)...I have read them about 3 times over, and looked hard at the pictures in those books...There are so many places I have still to hit when I get the time...The Erie Canal pathways are beckoning to me for the Coming Spring...

HH,

I guess I'll spend some time at the county library goin over the microfilm of the newspapers. They have some from mid 1800s. Don't know when the paper started putin pics in the papers. I've looked at microfilm before, it gets hard on your eyes after awhile. But might be able to pick up a few hints. GoGoGopher, I like your new image.

go for it!..me too!
