The Pro Handle does not fit the Nuttall

48" fiberglass Diamond Head scoop. The pro-handle is designed to clamp itself to almost any round handle as it has 2- halves that are screwed into one another in four places and squeezes the 2 half's towards each other to hold it in place, but the screws that do that are not long enough for one half to thread into the other half to be tightened and be held in place. It's supposed to work on lots of differing diameter handles and looks like it would. Doesn't work on the Nuttall I have.
Since those handles were talked up a good deal on this site, I wish they'd have tried it on the various scoops before talking it up. It is nicely made and strong as heck, but a little more research would've been nice.
They're made in China. Don't know how much lead might be in them. All the threads are metric FYI. I am going to make my own screw devices to get the halves to draw towards each other. The Nuttall fiberglass diameter looks to be much larger than what the handle was designed to accept. I hope it will hold even though it isn't made to fit that scoop. Hope this helps prevent others with this particular scoop to find another option, unless they want to fabricate longer screws. Other than that, I think they are a darn nice product. Jim

I am thinking of using the same type of bike handle that they use for straight detector shafts.

I tried those handles and they were not balanced at all so i made my own with a simple trip to the Depot, and the balance is now pefect, the scoop does not tip from side to side when shaking the basket out, also its very easy to empty to if your target was missed.

I didn't think you could take the inserts out. I' ll give that a try too. The thread type is still a puzzle. It fits a metric thread checker and an SAE thread checker. The diameter of the original screw is .008 smaller than a 10X24 screw. The bottom line is that a 10X24 nut will fit in the end of the tool where the original nuts are placed. Then you'll have a 10X24 SAE nut mated to a true 10X24 screw. I bought new ones 2" long and figured I'd cut them down a bit.

Dang! Those inserts didn't look like they came out. I was trying to figure out a way to shave some of them off to get the right fit with the origianl hardware. Gonna head out to the shop and build the new ones or take the inserts out. If JW said that's a solution, I gotta believe it.
In all fairness, the instructions for doing that were not included on the package. I still hope it's a solution. Might need to package instructions for dummies. Jim

Got it all solved now. Yes! There are rubber inserts that one can remove to make it accomodate a larger diameter handle. However, I think those rubber inserts keep the handle from sliding on the shaft...much like those rubber washers do on the nut that goes through your coil that holds the shaft. Because the rubber inserts are compressable to a certain degree, I got 2" bolts and ran them up tight holding the handle where I wanted it. I then loosened one of them and replaced it with the original screw that comes with the handle. The other bolts were compressing the rubber and holding it tight against the handle so the threads on the original screw reached the nut mechanism and allowed me to tighten it. I then rotated and did the other 3. I now have a the handle mounted where I want it and with the original screws and the rubber inserts still where they are designed to be. Hope this makes it easier for others to install. Jim
