The pistol I found wasn't a toy

kickback

New member
I thought I found a toy pistol yesterday. Not so upon cleaning it up I found out It's a Mondial .25 semi auto. Now what is that doing buried by a public swimming pool? It's too corroded to ever function.A first for me in my detecting career.Bill

I can't read any of the writing on it.It was nickel or chrome plated at one time. They weren't ever very expensive.I wish I could retract the slide to see if it's loaded.I'm no stranger to firearms but this pistol just makes me nervous.

Turn it in to the police and let them worry with it. It may have been used in a crime and they may
be able to get some information from it in there crime lab.

Being a retired Pa. StatePoliceman I know they have methods to get the serial number even if you can't read and run it on NCIC. Heck could have been used in a violent crime of sorts and wouldn't be comfortable until I did. Be careful as old loaded shells can be volatile if loaded and could blow up in your hands. Last but not least it may not have been buried but sunk over the years similiar to coins dropping. I have found partial pieces of firearms and even play guns from the 40'-50's but never a whole one...
