Hi guys im new to the forum, and would like to say it is very good.My wife has givin me her blessing to buy a new detector!!!!! I currantly hunt with A bounty hunter quick draw 2. I want to get one of the explorers. her is my dilema, I could buy the xs or I could buy the s with an 8inch coil.any feed back on this would help also any info on the "s".
thanks mike

Hey Mike
I am no pro, but I would say go with the XS. You can always get a 8" coil for the XS, but ya can't get a XS for the 8" coil.

thanks gary makes sense. what is the differance between the two?

Are the S models coming with an 8 inch coil now? I guess it depends on what features you think you need, personally I think I couldve gotten away with an S model, but I do like having the rechargable battery pack.. other things the S does not do is the learn/reject and edit modes, no backlight and no saved settings.. really is worth the extra if you might think you need some of those features....

I think he just meant he has enough money to buy one or the other.
My choice would be the XS,you would save enough money in the cost of batteries to make up the difference in cost.My battery pack is serial number 000006 and still works like a new one. Those battery packs are worth their weight in gold in my opinion.

Get the XS. Wives are far more lenient about detector accessories than they are about selling a detector that you just bought (at a loss) and then buying a second, more expensive detector. Believe me, I learned the hard way. Of course as soon as the initial shock of buying the XS has worn off is when you should start dropping hints about needing a specialized coil. Personally I would get a SunRay X-1 probe as my first accessory, then a SunRay X-8 8 inch coil would be second on my list. If you check my profile you will see that I pretty much have all the accessories but if I could only have one it would be the X-1 probe.

go for the xs .which is what i have .the advanced is not on the s model neither is the noise cancel plus a few other great features which will come in handy down the road when i purchased mine from a big supply house in florida (you all know who i mean)there was not a big difference in the price i think about 60-100 for the xs. above where i put advanced thats learn .the s is just a basic damn good detector, but when you buy a car get the mother LOADED right out of the gate. hope this has been a little helpful, also i got the stealyh 8 incher coil ITS GREAT AND LIGHT

ok guys the verdict is in!!!! its the xs and hopfully an 8in. coil and probe for birthday.(bought wife a laptop comp. for her b-day) whats fair is fair!!!! thanks guys , mike

Mike,
You made the right choice with the detector and the accesories, you wont reget it. All you have to do is have a little patience and learn it.
Good luck
Rick
