The longer you lose, the closer you come to winning. Or Visa Versa. Happens in everyrhing. One case here on the Fla. Gulf. 3- 4 of us been Wadeing and dry sand hunting for near 3 months. Usually each of us score one to three Gold rings or Pendent a year.. We know this aint great but it makes us happy. This year mainly because of heavy sand, the bunch of us got only one nice gold ring between us. This past weekend was very sunny fairly warm.
Huge crowds of weekenders hit town. Also also brought in a gang of hunters. Now comes the finger of Fate. Within a toss of our pals balcony. A new guy scores on a honker of a mans Gold Band. (fresh drop) Was it his machine, his skill, or lady luck ? I believe a little of each. Thats whats best about this hunting. If your out there swinging you got a chance. What a high that guy musta got, when he checked his scoop. Good for him, great for all of us and the sport.

Congrads to the New Guy!

Fresh drops...Just getting your coil over it. One reason I'm not real good at the fresh drop beach's. I see the guys here that are out there every weekend and they have there patterns..and they do seem to do better then most, I just walk out and hunt...I may find one or two gold a year hunting the fresh drop beach's. I did a little survey this past January just to see how these guys did for 2019, a few hunt the same spots I do but most like the convenience of just being able to walk out and hunt fresh drop places. We do have limited hours to hunt these spots during the summer ..6am to 9am. Of the 12 plus hunters I asked I found the average was 6 to 7 gold rings for 2019, one did have 12 which is excellent, then add on a few other pieces of gold and seems all average about the same. The Nox seems to be the more popular machine also. The fact the numbers are fairly close shows me, just getting your coil over it and digging..Luck...Skill, Machine and do the time.

That there ring Dancer wrote about was a Cartier yellow gold men's band 6/7 grams. Fellow who scored it is wintering here on the Gulf, and staying bout 3 miles down the beach east of the condo complex I'm wintering at. Him and 2 of his buddy's take a ride up our way, and Lady Luck takes over. Turns out he's been detecting since Christ was a choir boy. (70ish) Has swung many detectors. Tesoro were favorites (he knew the owner). Said it rang up 6/7 on his NOX. Then went on to say it was the best machine he's ever owned. And remember now, he's been detecting since Christ was a choir boy. I gazed over at the 2 Nox's his buddy's had, and the one strapped to my arm and blurted out, Amen...

Bandit & I meet often on the beach. We differ on our machines, he loves watching those numbers roll across that screen. I prefer leaving the videos at home and concentrate on listening to the Audio. What's fun is when we check each other's targets. Yesterday after a hard rain the sand here was compacted enough for our machines to reach targets at their depth limits. Slowing down, gridding out , taking time to adjust our machines differently to squeeze out everything we can. About eight years of picking on each other we are still pals. Tho, yesterday I accused him of palming three shiny quarters. Times about up for this season. See ya in around 9 months, ya claim jumper.
