the old well in the woods

hi everyone, here are pics of the old well and cistern that lead me to the old mansion site in the woods. such things are getting rarer to see by the day; it's been years since iv'e seen an intact one anywhere. and such craftmanship is seldom seen nowadays. i found coins and relics dating to the 1820's on this site, and i had a great time searching it. it was stuccoed at some point in the past. when your're walking through the woods, and see this, it's enough to get the blood up! enjoy, and hh,

TO GET SOMEONE IN THE BOTTOM AND DETECT FOR THE COINS TOSSED TO MAKE A WISH:look:

GG, in the near future there will probably be a subdivision over it like some of my CW sites. Enjoy it while you can. Good Hunting!!!

man, i'll tell ya, it sure is tempting... it's not far from a known battlefield either. found a few swage base in the immediate area, along with an old brass religious medallion. there's a huge number of hazards entering an old well like that. so, no well diving for me. i have to be satisfied with what i've found, 'cause i can see the headlines now..."metal detectorist found lodged in well after 30 year absence. desires a cold beer, a smoke, and a razor...and oh yeah, a 9 volt energizer." hahaha, hh,

hey d2, it's the same site from the mansion in the woods posts. been good there. i got in a couple of very short hunts here past week or two, been raining a lot. went out today after work and got an old thimble, an enfield, a swagebase 3 ringer, a shot 44 ball, and an old lipstick tube. lots of rain = better signals! hh,
