The old coin mode on the ID Edge, is that the same Mode that they put in the CZ3D. Do you get

As much depth as the CZ3D does coil for coil. Also do they make a 5" coil for the ID Edge since Fisher was too cheap to make one.Hope Ralph makes one. I might even buy a Edge if I can get a 5" coil for it. A small DD would be better. I am going to make a pin pointer out of my ID Excell with a Sunray 1" coil. Well since I am retired now I got time to do things like that and hunt as much as I want to. Hell, I should have retired 5 years ago. :bouncy: :clapping: Thanks , Jerry aka Tinfoil

Hi Tinfoil,

The factory preset modes on the Edge are simply notch accept patterns for different types of hunting. Fisher should call them patterns not modes. For instance the old coin mode accepts on the high end from 16-36 (someone correct me if I am wrong on the numbers) which pretty much assures you will not miss many IH's... unless of course they are tucked in a bunch of iron nails.

My understanding of the 3D is that the enhanced mode juggles target signatures rather than simply expanding the notches of the CZ-5. Some agree and some say nay on that. Just stating what Tom D. claims.

Get around iron and the Edge does very good on TID, better than most I have used. Worst case I have seen is a copper wheat penny that bounced in the upper teens in with some nails and 28 out of the ground. Best case was a Canadian fishscale nickel attached to a blob of rusty metal and with 3 nails in the pile which gave a proper ID from one direction on occassion. Like with all detectors get around iron and some targets drop in TID and some go up. Don't need no FP modes or patterns since the Edge is always operating in a "finding mode" without em!

Won't compare the depth with the CZ cuz it could be totally different in your ground, but I am pleased with it here in my ground.

Just hit the search button and see what else I can find out about the Edge since tis post is getting old and no one else had anything to say about the Edge. I remember reading something on a Probe and a 5.5" coil and it was a Field report by Bill Ladd but I can't remember where I saw it. I looked on the Sunray site and some other places but I can't seem to find it. Thanks again Bud Jerry aka Tinfoil

much, or I would have answered. I think Tom covered it nicely. Yes, there's a SunRay probe & 5.5" coil forthcoming for the C$/Edge. The test is done but not out yet....going to magazine this week.

Since I am thinking of getting a ID Edge as I like the way it hunts in the iron. My Id Excell hunts real good in the Iron but don't have a 5" coil. So I am going to sell it and get a Edge and 5" coil and a probe when Ralph gets them ready. When I am not using the Edge I will just use it as a pinpointer with the 1" probe. . Thanks for the reply.
