From my experience having used both I see posts using ser. #'s saying the old Fisher tuned CZ's will go deeper than the new Fisher units which is not really a truism as the new Fisher has top tech's and the equipment to tune. I suppose tolerances in either could give you a hot or cold unit but all in all a CZ is a CZ and I do my testing in the ground not by going by a ser# and if you feel your CZ is not up to par(old or new) I would takes steps to alleviate the problem.

I am a new convert to the Fisher family. Joining about three years ago with my brand new CZ3d. I loved it, but missed having a meter, so picked up a F70. Loved it but went on the an F75LTD. Have since picked up a CZ70 Pro for water hunting and recently got a a nice 1021 CZ3d. I will admit that the 1021 will spank my newer unit in an air test but I am not convinced it will out hunt it in normal conditions. I have been using the CZ70 for the last week or two and find it to be a great machine. I hope this week will be the one I visit a friend with a nice test garden and can put all three through their paces. I suspect that what I find is that all three do a decent job and that are finds are a result of research and putting the coil over the top of great targets.
