The new underwater digital camera, no waterproofcase required.

WE finally broke down and bought an underwater digital camera this weekend, cost in Bermuda $499 US including 256 meg memory chip. The camera is waterproof to 10' without the optional plastic case $229 which will extend the dive depth to 40'. Shock resistant and user friendly, I just charged the battery and it was point and shoot time. I have to figure out the finer points but so far it's doing a good job for a guy who is not too camera saavy.

I bought the same camera six weeks ago. i like it but I find that there is so much to learn. One thing I have not been able to do is get the pictures under 200 mb to download for posting on the internet.I even tried infranview with no success.
If anyone out there has any pointers ,It would be appreciated.

The pics of my finds this weekend and the pics of our boat trip were taken as straightforward, point and shoot, right out of the box pictures. I then used the resizer program that given as a free download on a post a few weeks ago and the pics were reduced to 40kb pics suitable for posting.
Give it a try.

Very nice...very nice indeed! And the pics you took on your Boston Whaler outing came from that, correct? Sweet!

I use Jasc Pain shop pro 6, it was quite unexpensive at the time, they now produce version 8 or 9, but they are a bit too elaborated and a more basic program like number 6 was perfect. But just any picture retouch programs will do.
You look for the edit picture tab and resize your picture from your PC. Usually, with a 72 p.i. resolution, a 8 inches picture is just perfect. So if you dont find the resize option on your program, just type resize on the help section of your program.
Once the picture is resize, it's a good idea to save it under a new name so you keep your high resolution picture.
Well it helps !

If you have Windows XP, Go to the link below and download the Image Resizer "Powertoy" for Windows XP. It allows for quick and easy resizing of images by simply right-clicking on the file and choosing "Resize Pictures" from the popout menu. If you choose 640 x 480 as shown, it will generally be something under 100K and still look quite good. Sometimes you can get away with 800 x 600 and get a little more resolution.

This is what it looks like in action:
