I've been watching this technology for about a year and a half when I first heard about it..
Revolutionary...........

Soooo? You gonna shell out 3000 bucks for the Sigma camera (SLR)? It's a shame that they couldn't put it in a prosumer type camera. Think of the thousands (millions) of cameras that would be sold. Of course Foveon is probably charging an arm and a leg for the chip so they can re-coup their R&D money as quick as possible. Sigma just marks up the camera to cover the cost of the chip. Well, they just eliminated 90% of those who could buy this camera and it p----s me off with their marketing strategies. The rest of us will have to wait a year or more (maybe a lot more) before getting our hands on this technology. One thing for sure---it will obsolete the CCD & CMOS type cameras especially when it becomes affordable for the masses. I can see guys like yourself who make their living in photography going for it now because of the competitive business you are in but I'm still disappointed the way in which they are marketing this new chip. I looked at some of the pictures taken with the Sigma and they are fantastic. Just can't justify the price to take family and sunset pics.

$3000.00 bucks is considered "prosumer".
Did you mean consumer?

Generally I think that model Canon is considered Consumer level.
I've played with that camera. You have a good one there.

We'll probably have to wait and see. The D1X is probably more ruggedized. Heavier duty body.
