If you are doing some maintenance work with your detector during some down time at this time of the year, you might want to consider cleaning the battery/connectors with an eraser, a nice cleanup job with a damp cloth and a change to the coil mounting screw and washers on the lower pole of your detector. These are available through your dealer or directly from Garrett Metal Detectors. You just have to specify which model/coil you are using. The new mounting screw is longer then the previous one and has a better grip on the end for tightening up the coil mount to prevent the coil from flopping. You should replace these periodically, as the washers wear, shrink and dry out. http://www.garrett.com/hobby/products/accessories.htm
