The New 11" x 8" widescan coil

Hello everyone,I live in ohio where I live my soil is moderate is this coil made for soils like mine or is made for worst soils than mine..

I think it's made for any place without too much trash, where you want a light, sensitive coil with good coverage. What I don't like about it, is that it doesn't discriminate as well as the concentric coils do. It's not a good coil for very trashy spots, especially in small iron; it can make bottlecaps sound like quarters.

I have a UK version of the Vaquero that came with the 11x8 coil on it,ground conditions are very mild so in theory this coil ticked alot of boxes for my ploughed and rolled and pasture sites, but alas after using the coil for many months it came off and just gathering dust,i bought a Mars Sniper coil which is 10x6 and that totally transformed the machine on roman/saxon trashy sites is what this machine/coil combination are made for.Really like using it,mine came from Tesoro for the UK market and come with both manual GB and fixed GB options which are both very handy.

The 11x8 coil may work for some folks but it was not my favourite coil option and i felt that it held the machine back from it full potential, but since using a slightly smaller coil it has been used alot more, the thing i cannot get over about this Vaquero is how light it is.

Thank you a lot for all that info guys.I have other coils and concentric ones at that.I have an elderado and last year right around winter time
I just happened to buy off the accessorie forum a 9x12 concentric coil I beleave I am going to give that a shot this spring and see how that
does for me..

That should be a deep coil, combined with the newer (plastic) Eldorado! One of my favorite Tesoros, BTW.

If you hit the pinpoint button and swing it over the target and it starts sounding off around the edge of the coil, its usually a bottle cap, washer, etc. Where as a coin will only sound as the very center of it passes over it. Bottle caps are pretty easy to tell this way. Thought this was pretty common knowledge and does work with brands other than tesoros as well. I will agree, the 8x11 is not a coil for more trashy sites. DD coils do not discriminate as well as a concentric, but is more stable in bad soil, also common knowledge that can be read anywhere that explains coil types. It is more of a field coil where you would want a little more coverage and a bit more depth. A little online reading, anyone can be a pro at giving advise. Even if they don't own a detector either... lol

It really depends on I guess the way a manufacturer mates up coil to the detector control box. I have little to no problems with bottle caps with 3 of my detectors that all use widescan coils(etrac/x-terra/T2).

It's quite easy to tell on a Tesoro with a widescan and a pinpoint/all metal button also if you know how to use one. Not something you find to read many places about and I don't think there is a youtube video about it either. So the armchair detecting pro's don't know that little trick I guess. haha
