the mystic of the xterra 70

What is it about this machine that has such a broad appeal to so many all over the world. Its just a fun machine to use I think and very effective in all types of terrain. Its super light weight and can be used all day by most in total comfort. A large viewing screen with big vdi numbers that you can see with out glasses on. I have used it on Old Orchard beach in maine, Hampton beach in New Hampshire, Clearwater beach in florida and it hunts great anywhere once you set it up. The set up is super easy , Just find a clean piece of ground , noise cancel, auto ground balance, click on track adjust your sensitivity to the ground your hunting and then just enjoy the hobby. What other machine can you go to 3 different frequencys on the same machine by just switching coils? None! Some like to split hairs on depth that one machine will go 1/2 inch deeper than this one ---- soooo what. If in the event you ever have to send your xterra in for repairs , unlike other machines, you just take out a set screw pop off the brain box and thats all you have to send. No rods , handles , coils etc. If your the type that thinks buying the biggest and the baddest in a product line will insure success I think a xterra 70 would surprise you on how well it keeps up with the biggest and baddest! Most finds are usually in the first 6 inchs or less in the ground. I personnaly feel if you have a xterra 70 with a 3khz, 7.5 khz and a 18.75 khz coil you can hunt anywhere and have fun doing it and find just as much as anyone else can . To each his or her own. Remember its a hobby and not a competitive sport. have fun with it.

It's quite an amazing detector, isn't it? It has a bit of everything and it's very light and robust (as you've noted). I purchased a metal claw recently so I can keep mine mounted on the wall in my office. My other detectors just sit on the floor in a corner... feeling lonely.

Hey Mike. That detector has been to some beautiful beaches. Which coil do you like for beaches. I'm going to Outer Banks in August, and am just curious.
Thanks

I have added some more coils to my arsenal since then. the 5x10 hf dd, the 10.5 mf dd. I think this will about cover all my needs. I may pick up a 3 khz when and if I see the need for it.

I have had other machines and currently I have a xlt spectrum with all the coils and the xterra 70. Both great machines but the xterra is oh so much lighter and more fun to use!!

That's Old Orchard in Maine, all views looking North. Winter of course after the hordes from Quebec have retreated North to their Wintering Grounds.

those little shops will nickle and dime you to death on anything you buy. They were having a arm wrestling championship when I was there and had to pay just to walk past a certain point on the pier to watch it. They do have a nice , old amusement park but its very small but the kids loved it. Make sure you try some maine crab from one of the shops along the boardwalk.

I just feel very comfortable using mine. I got rid of my trusty MXT to get the X-70. Even though the MXT found me a ton of stuff I have never missed it.

Honest LOL

I suggest that he have a moment of silence for those poor souls who have not experenced the PLEASURES of the X-Terra detectors.................. I call it like I see it.

TomB:rofl:

have not had much of a chance to use my 70 due to the ground being a bit hard. I really like it , had an explore for a very short time and it drove me nuts ( ok it was a short drive) . Can not wait for better weather to get out and unt.
