Yesterday drove by a fort built in the late 1880's, saw an small area torn up by construction workers with a backhoe still sitting there. I went over to check out the dirt and found a button sitting right in the dirt, that was enough to get me excited and go get my mxt 20 minutes away. I came back and hit a small motherload! I found some 45/70 bullets then my machine screamed at me, thinking it was a can I dug it anyway and was surprised to get this awesome shako! quite a few buttons came out of this little area, chicken heads and older style eagles. I even found some of the gold uniform cording! I hunted over this area all day aside from the relics, lots of cans and glass littered the area. Once in awhile days like this show up unexpectedly, these are the days that make it all worth while. Thanks for looking.

Wow way to go, awesome finds! Good job on seeing opportunity knocking:clapping:

Congratulations on a dream day. I haven't gotten into digging relics yet but those finds are making me want to. Good work on finding that spot.

A great site hope they move more dirt for you .

Real nice finds! I would keep an eye on that spot. More Backhoe activity might be worth a few days off work.

Awe what dreams are made of. Nice finds.

I saw this yesterday and honestly I didn't have time to post. This has got to be one of the best detecting discoveries I have ever seen on here. Have your feet touched the ground yet? :wiggle: I'm surprised you have come across any coins yet. Soon? If you need someone to help you out, just give us a call. ;) Keep up the super detecting. Have fun and HH, Nancy

Thanks, I'm pretty excited I am going to keep checking all week on the spot. I seem to have a strange knack for finding quantity every so often. A couple years ago I found a 1930's Colorado National guard dump which contained over 2000 uniform buttons along with dog tags, collar disks, equiptment I.D. disks, machine gun cart plates and a fancy inscribed brass award plate from a Brigadier general. Maybe i'll post it sometime. Right now most of the items are in possesion of the C.N.G. to be displayed in a museum they are working on as we speak. I've been taking the national guard historians digging lately, they can get permission very easily! Thanks again everyone for the nice comments, Happy Diggin'!

Incredible finds. After they get the museum finished, please take a photo of the display. How interesting and what a wonderful way to display the military relics so others can enjoy. We'll be waiting to see what else you'll be rescuing out of the dump. HH, Nancy
