The MXT Edge

New member
Doing some web surfing and I came across the Alaska Mining & Diving Supply Co. and they sell MD'ing books.

They had a copy of "The MXT Edge" by Jeff Foster. The price was $24.95 plus $3.00 S&H.

It's been a while since I bought any MD'ing books; but, doesn't this price seem to be a bit HIGH!!?

I don't own Jeff's book but that is the going price. It's the same in a shop but the tax is a little less then the shipping. Rob

Yea,I think I payed $25.00 for mine, but seemed to have good info.

It's a steal. For 30.00 you get a wealth of information. No MXT owner should be without it. I have been using my MXT over 6 years and thought I knew it pretty well. I learned a ton more about it. If I had it to start with I could have sped up my learning process immeasurably! GET THE BOOK!

There should be one in the box with every detector sold, IMHO.

Seriously, That book is well worth the price of admission.

Cheers,

So its raining here today and Im bored so Ill respond best I can. I am sure there are "some" of the book that will help you with the use of the M6,just need to read it and find the parts that would help you.
But, the M6 is so simple to use. Once you have made your decision on how you want to use it in a particular hunt all you have to do is pump the gound for a good ground balance and set your signal.
I like my M6 because its easy to use and will keep it for that but because of most places I HUNT, I can use my XL Pro for pretty much all my needs. Ive put a lot of hours on the M6 with different coils but down here in the South, I dont need the DD coils, maybe in a trashy site. I would like to try the new 10" DD coil on it but not willing to spend the bucks on it atm. Im finding I get a lot more false signals from the iron than I do on the Pro, running the same size coil on each machine, the 5.3 Whites coils. Plus, the M6 picks up every little piece of tinfoil which is good because jewelry comes in that range, but I dont park or beach hunt.
Well, I know you were just asking about the book, which is a great book to read and you should get it for the knowledge you will gain from it. But I am wanting to know how well you are liking your M6 in the places you hunt and what coils are working for you.

John

Thanks for the reply. The reason why I asked for the book MXT EDGE would be useful for the m6 too, is that, in my knowledge, the only difference between te MXT and M6 is that the MXT has a relic mode. I'm hunting in Holland/Europe and although my M6 has no "relic mode" I find with my M6 also relics from WWII and even (mostly musketballs) from the 1600's spanish war. I use only the stock 950 coil, which is doing fine for forrests and beaches. In an review at amazon, it was said that a lot in the book is also in the manual, so for the moment I will stick with that.

It's got a lot of information.......too much information. Lot's of technical stuff. I couldn't understand 95% of it to be honest with you. I just like to go out there and swing man. That's why I like the MXT it's a pick up and go machine. But I paid 25 bucks for mine also.
