The Meter Gets a score of 100!

I used my new 180 meter on Sunday for the first time, I was supposed to go to a club hunt but they cancelled due to weather, turns out the sun was shining by 10 ( what a bad call to cancel) anyway I went back to a field where I found my very first G.W. button. Well, I ended up finding another! the same design but in rough shape. I also found 2 interesting Badges both very far from each other but Identical (the design on them leads me to believe their definitely Colonial) and a coin so corroded it must be very old but unidentifyable, Its too bad what time does to copper. I will post pictures of the button and Badge on Wednesday, I'd appreciate any insight on what the badge represents. As for the meter it made the day so much easier! I was able to save time and energy by not digging junky targets that my ears would not identify as well and its nice to see the high numbers so that you know chances are theres something good down there, Its very accurate and the only targets that jumped around were those that were junk. The GW button came in at a solid 176 and the Badge came in at 179, the coin was a slight jumpy from 179-180. Right on the money!

wow nice finds too.

I use a meter in schoolyards and old house placed where the junk is thick. Eventually you will begin to know what the meter will say before looking at it, just by the sound. It's good to have, just to verify what you head is telling you. Relic hunting I don't use it. I hate they quit making them. Used ones are getting harder to find. I feel minelab has a goal to put everyone in a $1500 etrac. This may be one reason you can no longer buy a new meter. But I'm stubborn. As long as the sovereign will run I'm staying with it.

I am bummed they stopped making the meter as well. I own an Excal and have contemplated getting a Sov GT as it could be my land/dry sand/wet sand machine - providing the capability to change coils, change headphones, and use a meter. Since Minlab has discontinued the meter (and substantially increased the price of the GT) I am hesitant to pull the trigger on a purchase. I realize that I can still buy the meters used but they may eventually become hard to find or fix.
