the magic program for V3i

GoVidGo

New member
here is the program I ran and it's a BEAST on the V3i....

It basically supercharges the V3i to go DEEP but with a slow sweep speed. You WILL pick out silver and coins in the iron and garbage, no matter hoe hunted out the site is. I just hit a park that has been hunted out for the last 30 years+! I am still stoked at my finds!

I am ot sure if the program runs HOT on my machine or if it just works that good in the western PA soil(?) You WILL dig a plug and then have to dig a hole deeper in the plug!

I have added a pic of the Merc I found an the crap that was in the hole and plug... the V3i picked the Merc out of the garbage perfectly!

Don't use it IF:
#1 you rely 100% on VDI to dig... it will be off!
#2 you're pinpointing will be bad.... because of the DEPTH and losses on it!
#3 you hate a 'chatty' program. I you have an AT Pro and LOVE the Pro-Mode, Iron Audio=ON... you will love this!
#4 you have a fast sweep speed and can't slow down

Use this program IF:
#1 you want to cherry-pick coins out of an iron infested site
#2 you want to hit silver hidden in iron/trash in places hunted out
#3 you can swing SLOW... and pick out the high tones
#4 you want to dig DEEP! As in 10"+ !!!

HERE IT IS:................................

Rx gain 10 to start and adjust from there
Tx boost off
Disc. 88-93
All metal 70

DISCRIMINATION
Bottle cap reject off
Hot rock off
Reject -95 to -89
Accept -88 to +94
Reject +95
(if your ground phases into the -80s you will want to reject down into the -80 range.)

TONES
I set these tones to my liking and you may want to put in your own. I use higher tones for good targets that I look for. (Example...51 to 54 is Indian penny range so it gets a higher tone) I use the 5 tone on the iron range to tell where the iron is and it sounds like a ticking sound. Some people like this while others don't. I like to know whats in the ground. The more info the better for me!)

-95 to -6 5
-5 to -1 50
0 to +9 150
+10 to +12 165
+13 to +17 175
+18 to +22 225
+23 to +29 175
+30 to +39 190
+40 to +49 200
+50 210
+51 to +54 225
+55 to +59 210
+60 to +67 220
+68 to +89 250
+90 to +94 255

I use three frequency in Best data
I use lock trac with a offset of +1 and ground balance every 20 minutes or so
(Watch the arrows while ground balancing and wait until they start to switch back and forth left to right before releasing.)

5 band filter. (Adjust for your ground)
Recovery speed. 50 to 100 range
( I usually hunt at 65 until I know the area, If its trashy I go to 50, if moderate I hunt at 60 to 75, and for no trash and deep I go to 80 to 100. On some rare occasions I have hunt at 120 with good results in a almost no target type field.)

I use intensity base threshold of 70
Fade rate at 4
(These are just personal preference and do not effect depth)
TIPS
...make sure you have 'TONES' turned on............
...make sure you ground balance OUT of the iron and trash you are in (every 20 minutes or so)
...make sure you dig a hole inside of your plug (you will dig deep!)
...

Most of us older players on the V3i team have been running a variation of this program since the Vision came on the seen. It will can get deep, but the V3i can get there with very little adjusting too. Yazoo

That is what is so nice about being able to change the settings to your liking Viddy, you can custom make a program just for you.

Like Yazoo & Larry (IL) stated, you are making it work for you in your environment. I'm running the about same sensitivities and filtering you are (76, 94, Rx 8 to 10) though I usually -41 through -95 discriminated out. The VDI for that range appears on the screen. The Etrac & CTX 3030 are hot units with my fellow club members and they do well with them. So far when I've been out with them and check deep signals they were about to dig I could clearly make out the targets as positive signals I would go for. These guys usually are using the 11" stock coil and I had the 12 x 10" SEF on my V. With the stock 2D coil I have done well on coins in the 7" - 8" range. It's sweet detector that identifies can slaw and aluminum better than anything I've used.

Glad you like my program!

Thanks Magic been running a variation of this on the beach for a while it's MAGIC. At least for me it is. Running slow with a small coil I pulled three Indian heads the other day for a total of 47 for this year. Non above 1876...still waiting for the 77! I'm about to invest in my first minelab machine just to see if I'm missing anything. The more I work my V3I the more I realize it's all in our hands. This machine is not for the inpatient but for those willing to invest the time it is amazing.

It could not be said any better.

Magic... if you were in Pittsburgh, I would buy you a beer! Thanks for this KILLER program.

I wrote a post before this one, on the general forums about how I was about to give up on the V3i after a month. I had bought it while my plan was to sit my Etrac for a year. I was not impressed with the V3i stock programs, and needed something good for the ironsoil western PA parks and places. To me it was a mediocre detector. I actually thought about selling it and the Etrac and getting a CTX3030. I am a tech nut and love tuning, tweaking, and spending as much time on the table as in the field. Initially I thought, 'wow, White's has a HOT programable machine that should be awesome to customize!' Your program let me realize the potential that the V3i has. I have a lot to learn, I only had the thing for a month, and am a noob compared to you vets, but I love to learn, which makes it interesting with and obsessive compulsive personality.

Wingmaster on here, told me you had some hot programs. He was right. I already thanked him in an email.

And as you can see on the pic of the V3i screen... I named my program 'MAGIC'... as a tribute to the person who wrote it.

Used Magics program last summer and helped me with tiny targets. But my soil is high mineralized and salty, I think with this guys you can see how difficult was to set v3i with such conditions.

Start by adding salt soil to the program.

I am new to the V3i and have a couple questions about this program. I upgraded from a DFX, so I a familiar with a lot of the programs and settings.

I am running this program in discrimination mode, but not discriminating anything out. I just set the tones to 0 on the VDIs i dont care to hear. 3 freq. best data. Is this correct?

Also, the spectragraph only seems to have the blue bar and red bar. I thought green was everything accepted and red was everything rejected. Where does the blue bar come into play and why do I have a red as well?

In pinpoint mode, I have a Red, blue and Black bar.....what does the black bar represent? the combined data from the blue and red freq?

thanks,
Darin

Your info given can't be correct. If you rejected nothing you would have no red bars only blue bars. If you did use Magic's program you would reject the ground in your area. They are the red. Then you would set all your others as accepted and set the one you don't want to hear to zero tone. They are the blue.

Now if you set a tone to zero it will still show blue because it is not rejected, just silent.

In pin point each color represents one of the frequencies.

In more than one post I have stated there is nothing Magic about Magic's program. It is the Hi Pro program with a different set of tones basically. It may not even be the best program for your area. If this program was the best, Whites would have put only this program in the library. You must learn what changes in the settings do.

You must first learn what the Spectragraph and pinpoint screens are telling you in any of the programs.

I might of had something rejected then. I like the concept of the "magic" program. It has helped me find silver in the same hole as a nail/iron.

I know each color bar represents each frequency....but why black and not green like the other programs? Can you change the freq. bar colors?

Like I said before I am new to this machine, and I have been reading up on things....these were just a few things I had questions about.

Thanks for your time.

What settings in the Magic program do you believe, that are different from the Coin and Jewelry program, do you believe makes this possible? Download the V3 manual, it will show you the differences. They will be marked yellow.

I know each color bar represents each frequency....but why black and not green like the other programs? Can you change the freq. bar colors? YES, Bob just liked these colors. He wanted to show you can change the colors.

How far off is this program with swingin' a vx3? Any way to work it?

All the tones and the use of 5 tone for ferrous, as well as tones set to zero as a way to discriminate.

I have not seen Magic on the forums for over a year at least.

Hi, thanks for the info on the Magic program. I have a perfect place to apply this program.
I have 2 questions.
When you say slow swing, approximately how many feet left right in how many seconds?
Also , did you try this with the Eliptical 5x10 loop?
