Got to hunt an hour or so today, an area that has been hunted heavily...red clay mix with "regular soil" around some high power
lines...The M6 and the Tejon have been the only 2 machines that I couldn't hunt with full sensitivity...In fact, I had to run the M6 at 100%, no higher.... I thought that the Audio ID mode would be better in relic hunting but in all reality, the single mode works fine
if you don't care to keep an eye on the VDI.... I did catch myself pushing the trigger forward checking by audio and it was in agreement ever time with the VDI in the single tone mode....The deepest case shot I had found here was with an MXT and the 1400 coil at roughly 11 inches...but today with the 1400 on the M6, I got a smooth "whisper"
just a noticable bump in the audio, pushed the trigger forward, and
audio was in the nickel range. Despite the close proximity of the power lines, I turned the sensitively full CW and the audio response from the target was no long an "audio bump" but a good signal with plenty of audio...target was at 12", piece of camp lead, approximately
3/4" long X 1/8 wide... a percussion cap at 9"...all targets were in the 8-12 range.... a lead case shot was an "easy read" at about 10".
Questionable targets that had a VDI that bounced were usually iron...but the machine was fooled a couple of times by a small harness buckle and a small flat piece of iron...I actually like that because of the fact, I like to dig scrapnel...There were plenty of hot rocks in the area too and as usual, no problem at all.... I suspect that had I been able to run the sensitivity fully CW, I could have got a few signal that were in noise... Anyway, thought I would fill ya in,..... As I get more accustomed to this machine, some things may change, not the machine, but my use and perception of it,
Best to all, Richardntn
