Hi Gang:

UPDATE for 8/7/2013

Went back to the little park for 3.5 hours this morning.

Picked up a 4 mercs (1923, 1943, 1944, 1944), and a 1954 rosie dime. That makes 15 silver for August and 88 silver for year. I had 44 silver TOTAL in the previous 11 years.

Also picked up 14 wheaties ranging from 1923 to 1948. That makes 51 wheaties for August and 300 for the year. I had 270 wheats TOTAL in the previous 11 years.

This postage stamp sized park has now given me 30 silver and 139 wheats in my last 33 hours hunting there. I still think there are at least another dozen or so silver waiting to be found.

That's totally awesome. I had a park that was never hunted. I knew because of the amount of shallow silver I was pulling and I made sure I was there as often as possible before anyone else decided to give it a try. It was right along a very busy street so I was seen by many people driving by. I never did find any holes that would show proof that someone else was there beside me.

Hi Duke:

This park has been hunted at some point as any silver larger than a dime is hard to come by. But, there seems to be a lot of silver dimes here. Almost every silver and wheat from this park is 6" - 8" deep. Very little clad deeper than 5" here. Very little silver/wheats at 5" or less.

Well, at least, you seem to be the first one there with a machine that will find the rest and I would say, it looks like there are quite a few left! How many have you pulled form there so far?

That is really awesome. Keep pounding it! Get 'em all!

What's your oldest coin out of there? Have you looked at any old maps and did the park extend across the what are now the streets? Maybe there's more on the other side of the road?

1899, 1914 Barber dimes and 1903 V nickel. There has to be some Indian heads in there somewhere. Still looking. Not even sure how long the park has been there. I'm guessing 1920's.. Going to look at old aerials now

Yes, it seems like you should find several Indian head pennies there. However, It does seem like I tend to find coins that are 20 to 25 years after the date of the property. Probably because it takes some time to start losing stuff of any significant amount.

tonym Better stay at that park and sterilize it then you can pick a new spot . I have this fairground that I'm on my second year trying to finish it , still a lot of ground to cover . Can't wait to try some different places and see what the ctx can do but I'm stuck here and can't leave because it just keeps given. I think I have been at the fairgrounds 50 times starting to look like one of the trees out there lol . but as long as the silver and old coins keep coming I got to stay oh the pain of not being able to go somewhere else lol . sube
