The leaves are changing color in California........

...and I don't mind cleaning them up. One of those strange "what are the odds" stories from back to back hunts this week. Went on a short hunt Wednesday and managed a 191x ? wheat and a large, old style screw-on silver leaf earring. Thursday I pulled a 62' rosie and finished up my hunt with, what I thought was the mate to my silver earring. When I pulled it out into the light I realized it was a pendant and it wasn't silver...it was gold ! It looks to be a grape cluster w/leaves possibly and appears to be very old. These all came from different areas of the same site. This site has been producing old relics, jewelry and silver coins consistently...and I've been hunting it alone for a year ! On my Thursday hunt I was concentrating on checking/digging nickel signals as I've pulled a couple of V nickels and 4-5 war nickels from here...the gold was my reward for the 25 pulltabs I also dug up.

Yes srf I would agree with you, the leaves are changing (for the better), keep it up man WTG :detecting:.HH

GREAT job Scott. I lived in Laguna Beach for 5 years back in the early 90s and I dont remember any leaves like those? LOL. What about that gold leaf (kt ? / weight ?) Congratulations. I'm glad to see some of your posts and I look forward to seeing more of them soon.

Thanks guys. CCH, you motivated me to take some time to post a couple finds. I did not find any marks on the gold pendant but it tests out to be gold. Also it is heavy, dense for it's size and it gives a nice softened signal with a 22 VDI. The area I found it has some very old relics and coins. The gold pendant is very old and, I assume, pre-dates govt. mandated stamping. Looks like rain here so maybe I'll try to post some other finds from this summer...

Those leaves are beautiful Scott. I love when the leaves change and specially those kind. Great finds and HH, Nancy
