The Last Merry-Go-Round?

I made a post, 14K today and 15 days left to detect and showed a crucifix I found under a merry-go-round. The response was, there is a merry-go-round in your town? I never thought of it. I guess they are mostly gone because of liability. This one is at an old Men

Yeah. I used to love those things when I was growing up. The type we had out here in Australia was of the stand up variety. I hadn't seen one for quite a few years; then about 4 years ago, my wife and I passed though the next town west of us (40kms away) and we spoted one in a park. I was keen to take the kids out to it, but by the time we got them out there, all the old equipment had been replaced.
What is really sad, is that people are so worried about being sued, the equipment has become too safe. Kinda like cars now. How are they going to learn about risk and consequences, if they are not exposed to any risk?
Mick Evans.

Haven't seen a merry-go-round like that in years. Most every park here in our town still has one, though. Never seem to find much under them, but do pretty well swinging a 15-20 foot radius around them.
Never seem to find much under them, but do pretty well swinging a 15-20 foot radius around them.
As you can see in the picture, it's an open frame type. Stuff could drop right to the ground. That's why I got under it. The one a the park is close to the ground with a floor so I don't think there would be much under it.
