The hunt is over and now the hunt begins

Hit a lake today in NC. Email to University of Florida alumni association already sent. I'm sure it was lost this past weekend cuz finds were few and far between, maybe 35 cents.

Big Guy!! Good Luck!

Ring reunited with the original owner yesterday. UF alumni association found him for me. I was in my boat already at the landing when he arrived and I handed it over to him while he stood on the dock. We shook hands and away I went.. No pics, no fanfare, Pretty simple evolution.

Very good job on the return, your a good man....but
No offer of a reward like can I buy you a drink? Or here is a 10 dollar gift card..? ...I guess a hand shake would be the reward and self satisfaction something.

Years ago on one of my first ring returns I was soooo excited that I was gonna make someone's day when I reurned their ring. Sadly, it was very anti climactic. Then it happened again, same result. I'm no pro at reurns but somewhere around 15 or so I'd guess, and I've only received 4 thank you notes. I'm not gonna let someone else's behavior get me down and I'm an eternal optimist, so I return class rings if at all possible. Unfortunately, when I see a class ring in my scoop now a days it's kind of a downer, nothing like finding a gold band. It only creates a sense of obligation in me to get it to the (original) owner. It's probably my fault though, I expect nothing and that's exactly what I get. Not gonna stop returning though, just wired that way I suppose. Now, if I needed the money, maybe I'd think a little differently-:)
