I have to go with the 4.5" scorcher coil for then trashy places we all like to hunt. Next up would be the 10" x 14" DD coil for them wide open places like the beach or anywhere where there alot of ground to cover and not alot trash. DD coils handle mineralized ground better like salt water beaches etc. At the same time a DD can work well in trashy place so you might want to look at the 5" x 10" scorcher DD coil. Just my two cents worth.

Well I would do the 1500 w the 12.5" coil as it still Images...man, hard to do without it when one gets used to it. My 12.5 coil perfectly Imaged a pulltab at 10" size B before. I dug it up and it was exactly that. Hard to beat.
DD's are nice but dont Image. The big 12.5 coil can cover some ground fast.

And it Images...did I mention it Images? So kool...:pulltab:

I have both the 5 x 10 DD and the 4.5 scorcher and find the DD to be great,, the DD target seperation is awsome and the pinpointing is fairly easy,, I have not used the 4.5 much yet as I have a GTP1350 and it still profiles with the 4.5 on it,,I love the imageing to and am thinkiging about getting the 12.5 for my 1500,, I would also give some thought to the new 9 X 11 DD that is due out sometime(Like the one on the ATPRO) .......if weight would be an issue I would go with the 5 x 10DD as they are much lighter than the stock coil

I feel that the imaging is a great tool and can help you make up your mind as to dig or not to dig but the bottom line is you should know your detector well enough to tell by the sound it's giving as to what the target could be then and only then should you look at the target read out. In the case of saying working the beach's your going to be digging any repetitive targets so the imaging thing is not needed here. You will love having the smaller 4.5 coil that is one coil anyone should have for working them high trash areas we all have to hunt from time to time. The 12.5 coil is just down right heavy and not sure about you but would wear me out swinging it for very long. In any case you should have the 4.5 the others is really up to you.

I agree. Those larger coils make the machine really nose heavy. I just use a bungee/chest harness while using them. If I didn't already have every search coil made for my GTI 2500, I would get the 5"x10" DD search coil. It's very lightweight and covers more ground at depth than the concentrics. Actually, the 5"x10" DD is my favorite search coil on any machine. However, I really like the design of these new 8.5"x11" DD search coils. I may have a new favorite:biggrin: Happy Hunting!:)

The 12.5 isnt that heavy...just shorten your lower shaft a notch or two and that will take care of that...or do curls.
yeh the 4.5 is a must have also...

Just get all the coils......
