In my other post http://www.findmall.com/read.php?21,1509631 the groundskeeper had made the statement, "Why are you wasting your time here? this place has been picked clean and there is nothing left." I believe what he must of meant is that there is nothing around the tree I was hunting lol When I returned early Friday afternoon, I made sure I parked right next to where all the maintenance workers park their private vehicles
Although not spectacular finds, I was overly impressed in the little area that I hit. The area was right beyond where the groundskeeper had stopped on his bobcat loader to talk to me. Besides the clad that was lying all over the top of the ground (mainly pennies) I pulled a 1919, 1925, 1936-D, 1941, 1952, 1958-D, 1940, 1947, 195? (to crusty to tell) wheat cents. I then pulled a beautiful 1917 mercury dime. All very shallow (unbelievable at an inch or less - it still baffles me how these coins were missed) the 1919 wheat was approx 6-7 inches. I also found a neat coin stamped 50 SVERIGE ORE dated 2006.
Moral of the story - don't listen to people ( I include myself in this) that claim an area has been cleaned out. Especially from the groundskeeper that maintains the park and offers a better area to detect. BigCatDaddy stated the groundskeeper "shined me" LOL that he did, but I learned really quick of his motive. Thanks for looking - Jim
