The Gravel Pit Chapter 9

I cannot tell you at what point I decided I liked boys. Maybe Chuckie Baker was the prelude to this. It was later than most girls my age, I do know that. Perhaps because of all the boys in the neighborhood and my lack of having other girls to play with, one can only wonder.
I really cannot recall how old I was at the time, perhaps around the sixth or seventh grade in school, that I asked my mother and daddy if I could have a Halloween Party at the Gravel Pit. It was the

After I found out everyone was missing, I started walking around spying on all the bigger kids. What they didnt realize is that I had been walking around in that gravel pit for all my short years.(Even at 7 or 8 years old, I knew it like the back of my hand!)
I do remember falling in the fire, but no damage was done except my pride was hurt.
I had previously busted you and Skippy at the movies and I think all I got out of you was a quarter for my blackmail efforts

Those sure were akward years for all of us. Man we wanted to "Make out" but was not sure what it really was. Kissing a girl was just a matter of bumping noses and I didn't know what the hell the big deal was.
I learned though

had something to compare it to, that's when problems started!

all the awkwardness and wanting to belong. Pleasure to read it Lil Sis, congratulations on such a fine set of stories

Excellent story Lil' Sis, as have been all the stories you've told about your gravel pit.

Why did you all call this the "Gravel Pit?" Is this an actual gravel pit?
I did notice that you again mentioned Chuckie Baker, even though he was not there...sometimes I wonder if you had a subconscious "crush" on him. Did you?
I have really enjoyed your "Gravel Pit" series of stories, and hope that you share some more in the future. Thank you! Please have a great day! Kelley (Texas)

way before my time! Then land owners changed, and they stopped, thus leaving all the high hills and low valleys, (which looked tremendous to us when we were little) When I went back a few months ago, they weren't so large. Of course over the years, rain had dewindled down many of the hills.
Chuckie? I was kidded about him unmercifully by my brothers and their friends. I really never even go to know him much, although year after year he visited along with his sister every summer until his Grandmother died.

I'll quite. Just want me children and grandchildren to know.

You are always mentioning his name. You are among friends here on the Forum, trust us, we will not tell anyone, nor will we tease you about it, OK? Please have a great day! They are so, um, I guess from the heart, that you cannot help but love them. It kinda makes me wish that we had our own gravel pit in Courtenay. The closest that we had was the river.. But that was only good in the summertime.
Take care
All the best

just keep on keeping those teenage memories alive in your soul young lady, for they keep us young at heart. your description of the gravel pit has opened my eyes and I can see thru the words you write, every pebble and stone, ever tear and hear the giggles coming form the bullrushes
Let other beauties have the powerTo make one lovesick for an hour,Perhaps for a whole day or two,
But so to captivate a heartThat it shall never, never part:
Only that power remains in you.Let other beauties have the skill,By tempering smiles some fears to kill
And by degrees a heart undo. But with a sweet yet tyrant eye, At once to bid one look and die:
None has that art but only you.
Fair wonder, to those flaming eyes,A heart I fain would sacrifice,If I had e'er a one in store,
But having lost mine long before,Well may I sigh, wish and adore,
But for my life can die no more.
Good sound memories give lift to your wings.

...and could not attend your party. The Navy had invited me to my very own four-year party, seeing the world through a port-hole!
There's one more party you must write about before you end this series, Linda. I'm sure you know the one I'm referring to. So, let's have it!
Love you,
Johnboy

what it's all about, and say it ever so eloquently. To some it's nothing, but to others it's everything! I'm just glad you guys let me mush it up a little every now and then.
