That's very good Cosmo...you are on the fast track for learning your machine. You are going at it the right way. First time out dig everything to find out what it's saying. Next time out, dig the solid targets that are consistent, don't bounce around and have a sharp, crisp tone. And you are correct in finding a target in All Metal, then toggle to Auto Notch and see if it remains consistent. Many times when it is junk it will bounce all over the scale or go completely silent after you toggle to Auto Notch. You gotta love the solid tone and locked in ID. Don't be concerned about new pennys. As long as you're finding coins you're going to find the really good stuff as well. Enjoy the Hunt!

Looks like my normal day of dirt fishing...I turn up about that much junk on every hunt...the city dump just loves me... :detecting:
Soon you will notice that your bounty hunter responds especially well to dimes and quarters...They give a clean crisp short high tone that is rock solid on every pass...I just love that sound....I am planning on a bike trip down the old Erie Canal near where I live...It is about a 10 mile trek, so I will put the machine and my tools in a back-sack and pack plenty of fluids and granola bars and dehydrated fruits...Part of this trail comes near Green Lakes State Park and I intend to hit the beaches there...Hopefully turn up my first gold jewelry...Wish me luck!!! I pack my bike of the racks on the bus, then I get off at a MALL, and bike the rest of the way...Great exercise, but I am tired when I get to my destination and need to rest for a bit (saddle sore you know)...It is an all day affair...I just put my Mnt. Bike into the shop for re-tuning and to have the rear rim replaced (I bent the axle coming off a high curb...Won't do that again)...Hope I get it back before Saturday...
