Hi all,
Just thinking of some good times had with my Garrett detectors. The one that sticks in my mind the most is back in the 1990's when I got my first Garrett detector the gta 1000 power master. I worked with a guy who used the other brand of detector. And like all most everyone that has this brand of detector he thought his was the best and unbeatable calling mine junk in front of our coworkers. So he and another guy at work who also had a detector made a challenge to me.So they said let's put some money up. We'll go to the fair grounds and whoever finds the most coins get the money. Ok with me I said. So off to the fair grounds we went on Friday. I started out slow and was watching this guy bending over alot thinking man I'm getting my a** kicked. I found a few coins and started up a small hill when I seen a dried up hole someone had dug what looked like a week or so ago. So I scanned the hole and re dug it. Whoever dug the hole first missed the target it was about six inches to the side. With a big hit on my 1000 and a Id of 50 cents I dug it out and out came a flat piece of metal. Junk I thought until I poured some water on it. That's when I seen a eagle and star's on it Wow I thought this is my lucky day just think someone else just lost this prize by not pinpointing right. It turned out to be a 1850-65 militia belt panel with a $250 price tag. Well I walked away that day with not only the panel but the most coins and my coworkers money. I have since hunted with this guy many times and it's always a challenge and alot of fun . He admits now that Garrett detectors are a good brand his brother now owns one. More stories of our detecting challenges to come !
