the gold watch (gold I think)

Hello friends: The gold watch i found a few weeks ago has been undergoing a cleaning process of vinegar salt, soda and lemon juice and lemon rinds is working well in getting all the discoloration off.......But I left it out of the solution over night and it reverted back to a black coloration (turned completely black) any suggestions for what happened and / or a possible cure.

Or am I going to have to store it in solution the rest of its life...........thanks for your help.....sharp shooter:confused::confused:
