The Goats

Some photos I took of my Dad's goats after feeding them some apples my dad asked to have from a local grower. The photos were taken just before we had the second noticable rainfall since April. Currently he has 9 goats, although their population could almost double in the spring if each of the 4 females has twins and they all survive.

Note to self- try the next smallest camera resolution setting next time. 2 of the photos are cropped, and are smaller than the other. The other 4 are right off the camera, although they are still small. Hope everyone can see them okay.

been raising goats? Does he have any problems with coyotes killing any of them? Thanks for sharing! Kelley (Texas) :)

He has only had goats for about 2 years. Coyotes have never killed any of his goats, although someones dogs killed a female about a month after he got his first goats. Other than that, the only other goats that have died were killed by the donkey he had when it stomped them soon after they were born.

Cute goats. Do you milk them? Honestly, I don't know what one does with goats besides feed them and let them eat mow your yard. Do you think the donkey stepped on the babies on purpose? Poor things.

We don't milk them. Their only real purposes are to eat the back 2 acres of grass, and every once in a while we have one slaughtered. We do not view them as pets.

The donkey did indeed step on them on purpose, although we will never know exactly why. My best guess would be that it is an instinct of donkeys to do so, or he just had some mental issues. HH and GL Nancy.

Thanks for the information. I love all farm animals. Specially if they taste good.

And a fact that I didn't know about Donkeys. I wonder why the think they need to stomp on little ones.

The donkeys probably stepped in something and blamed the goats.

Are these those type of goats that, if you scare them, they get petrified and fall on the ground?

I wish Ron. Then I could charge a fee to the neighborhood kids. :)
