Recently got a Tesoro Tejon, have heard and read a number of times about the Tejon being too powerful, noisy, etc. I was testing it today on my wife's jewelry and it is hard to believe how sensitive it is, little ear ring backs are no problem for it, small chains came in loud and clear, very very close to acting like a Compadre with jewelry. I took it for a quick hunt at a school tonight and it was as calm as a cucumber, real stable, very good depth, I can't find anything that I don't like about it. So if any of you ever consider a Tejon don't believe all you read about them being too powerful for "regular" hunting. They have a sensitivity dial like most other detectors have and it can be adjusted lower if need be. I consider it one of Tesoro best detectors.

I bought the Tejon from a fella that hasn't used it in awhile, some of the dials/pots. and the trigger switch wasn't working quite right, after spraying it with some electronic cleaner things seems to be alot better, still not 100% happy with the threshold as I have to max it out to get a slight buzz, and at times I can't get it to buzz. I bought an allen wrech and am going to take all the knobs off and clean the pots. shafts, etc. The guy I bought it from has offered me a full refund if I want to send it back but I want to see if I can get it working like it should as it seems to be a hot one & I like it.

I felt really bad telling you how great the other model you bought was and then having you not like it at all.. Sorry about that Steve. But I honestly had many, many great hunts with the prior type machine ..
Found hundreds of pieces of silver !.

Don't feel bad Elton, I had fun playing with it, and you are right it was a great detector it's just that multi-tone metered detectors aren't my cup of tea.

It's the only detector I have other than my wife's old Freedom 3 CoinCommander and it has just got nice enough here to detect and I don't want to be without a Tesoro. It is working fine, it is just that I am not 100% sure the threshold is as it should be. I don't get much volume when threshold is maxed like I did with the Vaquero.

Glad you got it working have mine up for sell or trade but I think I am going to keep it and just invest in an Outlaw the Tejon is a great machine next to my Vaquero . I would like to have a Outlaw with the 8 inch coil just for S&(ts and giggles so guess will have to wait for a bonus check to come in and buy one outright LOL One thing I do like about the Tejon is that dual disc it works great! Going to contact Tesoro and see what it would cost to have the Toggle switch replaced so I know it will be good for at least a couple years use
