The Garrett Wobble

Maybe this belongs in the mods section, but does anyone have a fix (besides honky ducttape)that would make the swing smooth on my GTI 1500? That wobble shouldn't have to be lived with. I'm thinking along the lines of lock rings like other manuf. have-not to mention any names. It is about 3 yrs old and the deflection on a typical side to side swing is about 1/4". Otherwise great machine.

Try a strip of electrical tape as a spacer on the lower rod.

Mike, try swinging using your shoulder only. Keep your arm straight, handgrip tight and this should decrease the wobble at the end of each swing. It is also much more ergonomic and will prevent tennis elbow.

Thanks John, I'll try to keep my arm a little more rigid but it still seems like there could be some kind of retro fit to tighten it up. My other detectors don't have this problem. Only flaw in otherwise perfect machine. Mike
